The Death Star Droid was found both in the Jawa Sandcrawler and on board the Death Star.  Kenner chose an image of the Death Star Droid in the Jawa Sandcrawler for the card backs, although the image was such that the location of the shot was very much of a secondary factor.

 

The Sandcrawler scenes were very dark and extensive airbrushing was used to give the background a contrasting deep blue colour, highlighting the Death Star Droid.
