A long time ago, on a printing press far, far away…

For the Star Wars collector with limited room for bulky boxed vehicles, or a dislike for yellowed bubbles, 2D pre-production items from the vintage period can represent an ideal collection focus.

Between 1978 and 1985 Kenner and it’s worldwide partners produced a staggering array of Star Wars toys. Virtually all of these toys were packaged on or in some kind of cardboard, which featured printed designs that required prototyping during the phases of development prior to mass production.

Pre-production paper items, including Cromalins, Box Flats, Original Art Work, Photoart and Proof Cards are keenly sought after by collectors today. These items provide an interesting peek into Kenner’s design processes – along with a tangible insight into the packaging that millions of children ripped open on a daily basis during the late 70’s and early 80’s.

SWproofcards.com aims to provide a useful source of information pertaining to all pre-production paper items – from the original art or ‘photoart’, right down to Proof Cards. Thanks to the generosity of Tom Derby of Collectible Investment Brokerage (CIB) we have been able to showcase a large number of pieces of original Photoart.

A large number of Proof Cards are also shown in the Proof Card Galleries. These proofs have been sourced from collections all over the world – in some cases they’re the only examples being shown anywhere on the web! The site also boasts an impressive number of Photoart and Cromalins.

Feel free to contact us if you have anything you’d like to showcase on the site or if you have any additional information you think we should add – and especially if you have any similar items you might be interested in Selling!
